SOME FORMS OF FEAR

There in the group, the Writers of NAC (New African Chapter) accepted the challenge to write on and express ourselves on the theme of “Fear.” Enjoy creativity from all over Africa.

IN THE CLEAR
Every time I feel like I'm in the clear
It draws near
They call it fear
The downside to courage that threatens me each time I open a new page
An anxiety that stops me from pursuing my destined reality
I anticipate my reign
And so I have to break from its chain
I am a queen
And against this lock I will win
Then I won't hear from fear
For my courage will have me in the clear.

THIS FEAR I FEAR
It emerges from the dark
And I'm frozen like the block

But it's only a reed
Shaken by the wind

My imagination sent me shocks and seizures
And horrors without measure
For a thing that's not even a thing
And for a darkness that spread thin
When I stepped into the light
And realized there was no fight

My imagination sent me seizures for no reason
And for this fear I fear, there is no reason

THE VOICE OF VICTORY
Whispers from the shadows
The resounding effects
Perfectly pierces my ears
Slowly it creeps in
As the shivers ripple within
Fear boldly settles in
In my face, it boldly smiles again
Nothing does it stand to gain
Courage flows down the drain

Further the journey seems to be
Courage seems to flee
Defeat stems from the dirt
Feels like my heart stopped for a bit
Within me a second voice starts to chant
To victory I pushed with grit
For the new voice beams with faith
In me, it banks its hopes
Firmly it drives away my fears
My mind I free to win

OVERCOME
Creeping in like a witch at night
With the intent to instill doubt wIthin oneself
Whispering limitations to your being
Presenting before you a cloud of impossibilities
Making the heart even doubt itself

Fear, a limitation to greater things ahead
For they are not known
Instilling doubt within
Is its speciality
For the heart and soul knows what you are capable of
Acting as a barrier towards the successes that will change you for the better
A demon waiting to attack your dreams
For it knows your worth
It knows the power you have from within

It may present itself as mightier than any being
But getting to know it better
It’s just a dark cloud of just a few centimeters
A cloud so short but strong if left to be
For it knows that beyond it is everlasting Joy, success ,happiness and a greater being

Once surpassed its powers fade like smoke
For it never had those powers in the first place
Once defeated, doors open
So gather your strength and overcome
For you were made an overcomer
Not to be limited by fear
Overcome and claim that which is yours

THE SILENT DESTROYER
Soo silent yet soo strong
Moving with speed among the throng
It promises safety anytime you wanna venture a new thing
But it delivers very little and the aftermath pain is like a bee sting
Yes, indeed a silent destroyer

Oh thou that has dwindled kingdoms
Even the bravest of men have their own reservations of you
Your hand stretches as far as the animal kingdom
And the best you do is strike every living creature with your voodoo
Yes, indeed you are a silent destroyer

Everything man has ever wanted is on the other side of you
Some attempt to overcome you
But fail miserably
Yes indeed you are like a canker
Affecting the lawyer, teacher, farmer and banker...
Very few have tried their best
Trust me you've always been a test
Very few people pass
And the failures a huge mass

Oh mighty silent destroyer
Your worst enemy is trust
Although you can destroy anything hotter than the crust
Trust moves like a cool breeze restoring your spoils
Although you can make ice boil
A man can make headway if he trusts and toils

 "FEAR"
Bang! Bang!
All you can hear was the sound of a heart beating in fear,
Looking around the empty dark room, fearful
The sound and breeze of the wind with shaking leaves
It brought all fear,
Through the dark with wondering eyes,
A trembling heart heavily breathing with fear,
My marble eyes rolling around with fear,
I could feel the chilly sweat down my spine
And then the little voice kept me in assurance
For it's just fear, it said
 Harm shall not be done
I shall fear not...

FEAR!
When night falls, I feel its claws
Sinking, crippling my inner thoughts
That seeps in just before the break of dawn
An insomniac whose unknown talents are sunken by abysmal thoughts
I still await the silver linings ere an impending doom birthed from doubt
Doubts that emerged when daddy was no more
No more the gifts, the praise that birthed in me a special force
A force, not the fear that clings and stings whenever my heart sings
A force, not the devil's cause to cloud my mind and clip my wings
A force that sticks when we embrace fear

Fear my lover, my brother my guide
Fear my foe, the nightmare that darkens my soul
Weigh on me, spark my instinct
I own you, you spark me I burn thee
